Cryotherapy Huddersfield

Cryotherapy Treatment in Huddersfield

Cryotherapy is a safe and effective treatment used to remove unwanted or bothersome skin lesions by freezing them at a controlled temperature. At Esthetique by Dr. S in Huddersfield, we use advanced cryotherapy techniques to precisely target and treat concerns such as skin tags, warts, milia, cherry angiomas and more – leaving your skin clearer and smoother.

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy involves the application of extreme cold to the targeted area, which safely destroys the unwanted lesion while minimising damage to surrounding healthy skin. It is a quick, non-invasive procedure with minimal downtime, making it an excellent option for common skin concerns.

What conditions can Cryotherapy treat?

  • Cryotherapy can be used to treat a range of benign skin lesions, including:
  • Skin tags (small or large)
  • Milia (small, white cysts under the skin)
  • Cherry angiomas (red/purple vascular lesions)
  • Warts
  • Verrucae
  • Seborrheic keratosis

If you have multiple lesions or are unsure whether cryotherapy is right for you, we recommend you book a consultation with Dr. S for personalised advice.

Benefits of Cryotherapy:

  • Quick and effective treatment
  • Safe and precise targeting
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Little to no downtime
  • Long-lasting results

While Cryotherapy effectively removes skin imperfections like tags and warts, the Clinicare Peel Range can further enhance skin clarity and texture by addressing pigmentation and uneven tone.

The Cryotherapy Procedure:

The Cryotherapy procedure is a straightforward and highly controlled process performed by our medical professional.

    1. Preparation: The targeted lesion and surrounding skin are thoroughly cleansed. We then precisely identify the area for treatment to ensure only the unwanted tissue is affected.
    2. Application: A specialised device is used to apply a targeted jet of extreme cold (liquid nitrogen) directly onto the lesion for a few seconds. This freezes the tissue, safely destroying the unwanted cells. Patients may feel a brief, sharp stinging sensation that quickly subsides.
    3. Completion: The procedure is exceptionally quick. After the application, the area is cleaned again. Dr Sanam Iqbal will provide you with simple aftercare instructions before you leave our Huddersfield clinic, able to return to your daily activities immediately.

Cryotherapy Aftercare for Optimal Healing

Following your cryotherapy treatment, proper aftercare is crucial for a smooth recovery and the best possible aesthetic result.

  • Keep the Area Clean: Gently wash the treated site daily with mild soap and water, then pat it dry. Avoid rubbing or scratching the area.
  • Allow Natural Healing: A scab or blister may form, which is a normal part of the healing process. Do not pick or disturb it. The scab will fall off naturally within 1-2 weeks.
  • Protect Your Skin: Shield the treated area from direct sun exposure. Once the scab has fallen off, apply a high-SPF sunscreen to the new skin to prevent discolouration. Avoid swimming and harsh skincare products until the area is fully healed.

FAQs about Cryotherapy

Is Cryotherapy painful?

You may feel a short, sharp stinging or tingling sensation during treatment, but most patients find it very tolerable.

Most lesions require just one treatment, but some may need a follow-up session for complete removal.

Cryotherapy is a very safe procedure with minimal risks. Common, temporary side effects include redness, swelling, and blistering at the treatment site, all of which are normal parts of the healing process. In rare cases, there can be a small risk of scarring or changes in skin pigmentation (the area becoming lighter or darker). These risks are minimised by following our aftercare instructions, particularly regarding sun protection.

There is little to no downtime after Cryotherapy. There may be mild redness, swelling, or blistering in the treated area, but this usually resolves within a few days.

The initial results are visible as the treated area heals. After treatment, a scab will form over the lesion. This scab will naturally fall off within one to two weeks, revealing new, healthy skin underneath. The final aesthetic result will continue to improve over the following weeks as the new skin settles and blends with the surrounding tissue.

Cryotherapy is highly effective for a wide range of benign (non-cancerous) skin lesions, including skin tags, warts, milia, and cherry angiomas. However, it is not suitable for all skin growths. It is not used for suspicious or cancerous lesions, such as melanomas, which require a different medical approach. A thorough consultation is essential to confirm if cryotherapy is the appropriate and safe treatment for your specific concern.

Our Cryotherapy prices vary depending on the type of lesion being treated. A small skin tag costs £60 to remove, a large skin tag is £90. The removal of up to 3 small skin tags costs £150.

Milia (up to 5) costs £100, up to 10 is £200.

A cherry angioma costs £60 to remove.

Verrucas are from £75. Warts are from £60. Seborrheic keratosis is from £90.

During your free consultation we determine the size of the lesion(s) and outline the cost before treatment.

Take the first step towards clearer, healthier skin.
